November 24, 2016 – The festive season is upon us and the Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals Wellington, New Zealand, is asking people to support animals in need by attending its Christmas High Tea, 3 to 4 December at the SPCA, 140 Alexandra Road, Newtown.
The High Tea will cost $NZ45 per person which includes tea, coffee, bubbles with menu options – a selection of sweet and savoury treats [see below].
There are two sitting times to choose from, 12 pm or 3pm, on both Saturday and Sunday. All dietary needs can be catered for, please advise the SPCA accordingly when booking.
The SPCA encourages people attending the High Tea to visit the SPCA animals available for adoption, and spend some time with them. The animal centre is open from 10am – 4pm.
HIGH TEA MENU (3 savoury + 3 sweet items per guest):
Selection of classic finger club sandwiches with the following fillings:
Southwest turkey, black bean, avocado, pepetos
Smoked salmon, caper cream cheese and cucumber
Sweet onion, hummus and charred pepper with chia seed (vegetarian, Vegan and dairy free)
Petit pumpkin scones topped with Manuka smoked chicken and cranberry salsa
(Vegan version is topped with dukkha mushroom) (dairy free & Gluten free)
Carrot parsnip rostis, rare roasted beef, caramelised onion
(Vegan version is topped with marinated tofu) (dairy free & Gluten free)
Roasted summer vegetable, kale emulsion and basil frittatas (dairy free & Gluten free)
Baby carrot cake cupcakes with pecan frosting and pistachio berry snow [Vegan, Dairy free & Gluten free]
Kahlua chocolate cupcake with sour cream ganache and toffee hazelnuts [Vegan, Dairy free & Gluten free]
Vegan meringue nests with whipped coconut cream and kiwifruit salsa [Vegan, Dairy free & gluten free]
